I’ve spent years telling myself Scion isn’t worth the hassle on day one. Too many “interesting” reworks that end up feeling like homework once you hit maps. Then the Reliquarian reveal landed, I opened PoB “just to look,” and suddenly I’m rearranging my whole start. If you’ve ever wanted to dodge the early trade scramble, cheap poe 1 currency is the kind of shortcut people talk about when they’re trying to get to comfortable mapping before the league economy settles.

    Why Reliquarian Feels Different
The hook isn’t raw stats, it’s the way the ascendancy borrows identity straight off famous uniques. You’re not waiting for a lucky drop to feel “online” anymore. You grab a node and suddenly your build behaves like it’s wearing an Astramentis-style attribute package or a Shaper’s Touch-style scaling trick. What really got me, though, was noticing the pool isn’t static. It shifts each league, nudged by what dominated last time, so Mirage leaning into auras and res tools makes sense when the new content is throwing nasty, spiky chaos pressure at you.

    Mirage Punishes Weak Starts
In Mirage you’re not casually clicking a shrine and walking away. You free a Djinn, the map flips into this mirrored mess, and you pick a Wish that decides whether you’re farming loot or getting deleted. It’s a great system, but it’s also brutal if your character’s still wearing act gear. That’s why Reliquarian matters early: it gives you a “borrowed unique” power bump while your stash is empty. You can choose defenses first, then damage, instead of praying your first few rares roll the right life and res.

PoB Tests That Changed My Mind
I tried a few setups just to see if it was hype. It wasn’t. A Righteous Fire hybrid with the right Reliquarian picks landed at about 8.2k effective life with basically no real gear doing the heavy lifting. Then I mocked up a Bleed Bow version using the unique-style bleed multipliers and it pushed roughly 4 million single-target, which is exactly the kind of number that makes Djinn bosses feel fair when you’re picking a greedier Wish. Even a quick minion run came out surprisingly stable, hovering around 300k DPS with a 9k ES shell.

    My First Three Days Plan
So yeah, I’m going Scion. The plan is simple: rush into yellows, use Horizons to keep maps flowing, and let the ascendancy cover the ugly gaps while gear catches up. If you’re the type who hates the early wall and just wants to press into the mechanic right away, a lot of players will lean on trade or faster top-ups, and sites like u4gm exist for that exact reason with quick delivery and a straightforward checkout. I’ll be in queue reading other people’s Reliquarian ideas and stealing anything that looks even slightly broken.
